Bandit / Shadower Guide

PepsiBandit’s Shadower Guide

Recently a lot more people have been doing bandits and have been unsure exactly how to assign the ability and skill points. In this guide I will try and go through all of this in as much detail as I can.

Since the big bang patch there have been a few changes in how to assign skill points but the main skills are still just as important as they were.

AP
There are 3 ways to do a bandit. You can sort of mix between all of them if you want though. The main difference is the amount of funding you have.
Regular
Str
Dexless

Regular bandit
These will quite often have about 50-80 dex (sometimes even more). This is ok if you are still learning how the game works and cannot afford nice items. This is the same way I started out (I went up to 120 dex before I knew about how to do AP). You can always reset your dex later although this is a very expensive method.

Dexless
This is exactly what you think it is. You do not add any points into dex and you only add to luk. Luk is the stat that gives bandits most of their attacking power, dex also gives some but not as much. It is possible to do this without being really rich since they added higher level maple weapons (which do not require any stats). If you have enough money you can even change from the low level items to the high level ones and have even more attack.

Dexless classes have the potential to become incredibly strong especially since potential slots were added on items. The extra % luk from the potential lines on items is based on the base stats, therefore if someone had an extra 60 luk compared to someone that wasn’t dexless they would benefit more from the % luk.
Dexless thieves may find it hard to wear higher level items and could also lose out on having better stats from potential lines.
[Explain stats from potentials
0+ = … tier one
31+ = … tier two
71+ = … tier three
121+ = … tier four etc]

Strength bandits
Higher level str thief shields and weapons have more attack than the strengthless ones. There are no strless thief shields that have attack before being scrolled (these can be seen below). This becoming more of an advantage at the moment as we are getting more Dragon Khanjars on EMS. It is still possible to be a strless and dexless bandit using a dragon khanjar. I will not explain all of the items that you can use to achieve this but items such as horntail pendants and zakum helms that do not require stats help a lot.

Khanjar:
[still need to add stats, etc]

Dragon Khanjar:
[still need to add stats, etc]

Panlid:
[still need to add stats, etc]

Maple Shield
[still need to add stats, etc]

Timeless Shield
[still need to add stats, etc]

SP

Sindits
Sindits use stars until at least level 40, some still use them up until 70 but that is just preference. Sindits use lucky 7 as a main attack at lower levels because it is faster. This makes no lasting effect on the character except you being able to throw stars a further distance than you would otherwise.

I think sindits are a good choice for most people although it might tempt you into making a sin. Just remember that dits become a lot more fun once you start using your dagger with some 3rd and 4th job attacks.
The SP build for 1st job sindit is:
1 lucky 7
5 keen eyes
Max lucky 7
3 disorder
Max dark sight
Max nimble body
3 double stab

level 10 after job advancement
+1 lucky seven [1]
lvl 11, +3 keen eyes [3]

lvl 12, +2 keen eyes [5,max], +1 lucky seven [2]
lvl 13, +3 lucky seven [5]
lvl 14, +3 lucky seven [8]
lvl 15, +3 lucky seven [11]
lvl 16, +3 lucky seven [14]
lvl 17, +3 lucky seven [17]
lvl 18, +3 lucky seven [20,max]
lvl 19, +3 disorder [3]
lvl 20, +3 dark sight [3]
lvl 21, +3 dark sight [6]
lvl 22, +3 dark sight [9]
lvl 23, +1 dark sight [10,max], +2 nimble body [2]
lvl 24, +3 nimble body [5]
lvl 25, +3 nimble body [8]
lvl 26, +3 nimble body [11]
lvl 27, +3 nimble body [14]
lvl 28, +3 nimble body [17]
lvl 29, +3 nimble body [20,max]
lvl 30, +3 double stab [3]

Final result:

Pure Dits
These use daggers for the whole way to 200. The main reason for doing this is to have fun learning what its like to train with a dagger and to actually be a dit the whole way. You still need to add points to lucky 7 to use up the sp for the 2nd job advancement.
The SP build for 1st job pure dit is:
Max double stab
3 disorder
Max dark sight
Max nimble body
1 lucky 7
5 keen eyes
2 lucky 7

level 10 after job advancement
+1 double stab [1]
lvl 11, +3 double stab[4]
lvl 12, +3 double stab [7]
lvl 13, +3 double stab [10]
lvl 14, +3 double stab [13]
lvl 15, +3 double stab [16]
lvl 16, +3 double stab [19]
lvl 17, +1 double stab [20, max], +2 disorder [2]
lvl 18, +1 disorder [3], +2 dark sight [2]
lvl 19, +3 dark sight [5]
lvl 20, +3 dark sight [8]
lvl 21, +2 dark sight [10,max], +1 nimble body [1]
lvl 22, +3 nimble body [4]
lvl 23, +3 nimble body [7]
lvl 24, +3 nimble body [10]
lvl 25, +3 nimble body [13]
lvl 26, +3 nimble body [16]
lvl 27, +3 nimble body [19]
lvl 28, +1 nimble body [20,max], +1 lucky seven [1], +1 keen eyes [1]
lvl 29, +3 keen eyes [4]
lvl 30, +1 keen eyes [5,max], +2 lucky seven [3]

Final result:

2nd job, there is almost only one thing you can do for 2nd job unless you wanted to be a sindit until 70. In which case you would get max haste first then continue following this skill build.

lvl 32, +3 savage blow [6]

4th job
4th job requires you to do work to earn some of the skills as well as buying skill books. If you can’t afford some of the skills then I would just keep adding to the skill after it on this list unless it is boomerang step. This is probably one of the most important attacks shadowers get. There is a long quest to get hero’s will which I will post a link to how to do it after this. You should get this skill as soon as you can even if you are not going to add points to it.
